Carpet oil stains can be tough and tricky to remove as carpet is not a light like other fabrics to toss or wash in the washing machine. Carpet soaks the oil and it absorbs in to the fibers. If stains of oil is not treated well this can be a permanent stain. It’s somehow surprising but a fact that some products in your medicine cabinet can be helpful in removing carpet oil stains.

How to Get Oil Stains Out- Any type of stain on your expensive carpet can be a matter of concern as fibers absorbs liquid very quickly. Because of its greasy substance, oil stains are difficult to remove. Use options or supplies found in home to remove the oil based stains and get a clean stain free carpet. Here are some tips to remove the oil stains-

  • Paper towel is a good tool to clean oil stains. Use a lifting motion or blot paper until more oil comes off the paper.
  • Remove the oil stain by blotting it with a small amount of alcohol as the alcohol absorbs the oil and remove the stain.
  • Mix ¼ teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in a small container of water. Pour it on the stain.

Removing Oil Stains from Clothes- To remove oil stains on your cloth is a difficult one. You need not to fear if you find an oil stain on your clothes as cooking oil is greasy by nature but it doesn’t have permanent fixture on your clothing. Remove oil stain carefully so that it doesn’t spread and by using proper products and methods you can easily remove oil stain within no time. Here are some tips-

  • Lay down the cloth on a flat surface with the oil stain acing up. Sprinkle some cornstarch and talcum powder on the stain. Leave it overnight as it is so that the powder may absorb the oil from the clothing.
  • Brush the cornstarch from the clothing by using a dry rag. Spray a laundry pre treatment spray on the stain. Leave it for at least 30 minutes.
  • Wash the cloth with hot or warm water according to the fabric. After washing inspect the clothing. Spray a household lubricating spray on the oil stain.

Oil Based Stains- Among all types of different stains, oil stains are the most difficult to remove. Grease and oil tend to adhere to a surface with a tenacity that demands for more effort to remove the stain but they are next to impossible to remove. Use of baby powder, baking soda and cornstarch may clean up any oil based stain from any type of fabric.

With a little knowledge and effort, any oil based stain can be removed very easily.
